Welcome to your first news sheet, where hopefully we will be kept up to date with all the happenings in our own club. Please bear with me as I try to cover as many important happenings as possible, at our club. Your contributions will be appreciated too.
In the next few months we have some important dates to be noted:
- The Minor singles commence on July 8.
- District champion of champions is being played at WRSL on July 13.
- Cancer Council Breast/Prostate Cancer Bowls Day July18 at WRSL. Teams needed.
- Club consistency commences August 12.
At WRSL, we have many active Octogenarians, and now can boast 3 Nonagenarians who also play fairly regularly. Jean Whelan joined this elite group on 21 June. Grace Shipp became a nonagenarian in March and Joan Chapman is looking forward to her 93rd birthday in December. Well done ladies, you are an inspiration to us all.
Our President Zelda has thrown down a big challenge to whom ever gets the most “touchers” in one game- the best so far is 11 by Barbara Rose.
The birthdays for July are: S Vause; L Wilson: J Gould; S Robson; V Webber; A Bucklin; J Wallace and F Wong.

The Hen of the Walk continues to thrive, great to see ongoing participation.
Well done to Yvonne McCabe, who continues to foster WRSL players to play at other clubs. It is great to play against other clubs in a social situation as well as District matches.
The new committee is taking their roles very seriously, and all with the endeavour of continuing to make our club the best.
Membership Drive
To keep our ladies bowling club strong, we need to encourage new members. Introduce a friend to the game; all they have to do is join WRSL Bowling Club and can then have free lessons. They will be surprised at how enjoyable it can be.
With coughs and colds amongst us, I want to share a remedy Jean Whelan gave to me when I had a persistent cough “lemon juice and honey with hot water” last thing at night. It works every time. Thanks Jean.
To all those not feeling 100%, we wish you speedy recovery and hope to see you back with us soon.
Big congratulations to Margot Brandes for winning against a tough opposition in Vicky Turner from Warilla. Our very best wishes for the Zone game next Wednesday.
